With the demonetisation effect and  ongoing cash crunch at the banks and ATMs , India’s online market place giant Snapdeal has come out with a unique offering called Cash@Home  service which will let users to order cash and have it delivered to their doorsteps. It is currently in a pilot phase in the Bengaluru and Gurugram where the users can use any ATM card and get Rs 2000 delivered at home only after one day after receiving the request.

The consumers will need to swipe their ATM card on the PoS machines, which Snapdeal’s courier partners will carry for all such deliveries. A nominal amount of Rs 1 will be charged as convenience fee, which will need to be paid through FreeCharge/through a debit card at the time of booking the order. No additional purchase is necessary to avail this benefit. The service will be extended to other major cities in the country based on the feedback and availability of currency notes. The cash which is received through their Cash on Delivery service will be used for this service.

Cited as a goodwill gesture by Snapdeal to allow users to easily access cash without having to queue up at their bank or at the ATMs and help them tide over any urgent requirement for small cash.

How it works: You will need to install the Snapdeal app, where it  uses your location data to check if there is cash available in your area.
According to Snapdeal, if cash if available, you'll get a push notification and an SMS notification, taking you to the order page.
