The latest celebrity to join the start-up funding list is Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez. Like  singer Madonna who  funded coconut water brand Vita Coco, rapper 50 Cent who has a  minority stake in Glaceau vitamin water and  Beyonce invested in a watermelon-water startup WTRMLN WTR  last year Read http://startup2day.in/story-fullview/beyonc-knowles-her-start-ups , Jacqueline has invested  Rs 3.5 crore ($559,000) in a juice and beverages startup  Rakyan Beverages Pvt. Ltd, which sells cold-pressed juices under the RAW Pressery brand according to an Economic Times report.

RAW Pressery was born in Anuj’s kitchen in 2013 with a cold-press juicer,  where he felt the need to create a healthy  beverage  which was simple and  uncomplicated . Thus the concept of  RAW Pressery was born  with a simple bottle of juice through . RAW Pressery sells its products in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Pune, Gurgaon, Hyderabad and Chennai. It is looking to expand its presence to 12 other cities.
Now with Jacqueline’s investment, the company’s worth is at about Rs 120 crore, similar to the valuation Rakyan got during last year’s investments, when the startup raised close to $4.5 million in series B funding from Sequoia Capital, Saama Capital Management and DSG Consumer Partners. The company plans to raise $10 million by December this year as it looks to improving manufacturing and marketing of the product. Unlike packed juices that have shelf lives of up to six months, Rakyan products have limited shelf life and need chillers in their supply chain.
The company runs in-house logistics and manufacturing units that help control costs and quality. “While professional investors take calculated risks, celebrities are believers and users of the brand. Jacqueline has about 13 million followers just on Instagram and can influence buyers. Hence, she is not an ambassador but an evangelist who can have an impact on the topline,” said Anuj Rakyan the founder of   Rakyan Beverages Pvt. Ltd.
