According to a Economic Times report, Mahindra Group is all set to further  foray into the agricultural sector  by  investing and collaborating  with start-ups  in the agri-tech space.

Investments in start-ups will be made primarily via Mahindra Partners, the group's venture capital arm.It has already invested $1 million in MeraKisan — a start-up that sources fresh vegetables and fruits directly from farmers and sells them to customers. It launched Trringo, an online platform which allows farmers to rent tractors and other mechanised farm equipment, last year and has recently launched MyAgriGuru, an agricultural advisory platform that helps farmers manage their crops by providing information on weather, pricing  and  connects  the farmers & various market yards across the India.

They also plan to invest in various companies in the range of $1-5 million and also collaborate with other VC funding agencies to fund various businesses looking to expand further. But investment apart, the group is actively working in the agri-tech space to harbour its start-up dreams.

Speaking in an interview with Reuters in January, Mr. Anand Mahindra, Executive Chairman of the Mahindra group said that ,”the company doesn’t believe start-ups are the private preserve of only garage start-ups...The corporate garage is going to be the scene of a lot of action," .( Source: Economic Times)
