NMAMIT,NIT-K to house incubators in India's first start-up district

The Minister for State for Commerce and Industry Mrs. Nirmala Seetharaman who declared that South Karnataka region of Mangalore as the first start-up district  in the country in February 2017- Read http://startup2day.in/story-fullview/mangalore-to-have-the-first-start-up-district-in-the-country
has finalised two of the oldest technical institutes in Mangalore to house the incubators in the region-  NMAM Institute of Technology, under Nitte University and NIT-K, Surathkal.
 
This was confirmed to the Times of India paper and Mr. Vishal N Hegde, Pro-Chancellor (Administration) of Nitte University said that representatives from both the institutions had met Mrs. Nirmala Seetharaman at Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai. Amitabh Kant, Chief Executive Officer, NITI Aayog was also present at the meet and they have chosen these two educational institutions as incubators. We will develop an innovation centre at Nitte that is similar to IIT, Chennai and put use for young entrepreneur minds. 
 
He added that innovation centre with incubators will be launched in Nitte Campus in Karkala in two months. The work for the facility is in near completion. The new incubation facility will provide students the necessary platform for realizing their ideas like a workspace, comprehensive inventory and ample guidance. ``The government wants to encourage startups to provide innovative solutions for challenges unique to India, especially in education, health, manufacturing, agriculture and infrastructure, and not just be skewed towards developing apps .
 
NMAMIT already has been successfully running New Age Incubation Centre. Karnataka Biotechnology & Information Technology Services (KBITS), an autonomous organization established under the Department of Information technology & Biotechnology under the ageis of the Karnataka government, had selected NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte as one of the nine engineering colleges for 'Karnataka New Age Incubation Network'.
