Pitch Competition at AP AgTech Summit-2017 in Vizag

Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated a 3 day AP AgTech Summit-2017, from November 15th to 17th, organised by the Andhra Pradesh Government in Visakhapatnam. The summit will have discussions on innovation, technologies, and global best practices in agriculture sector in the state.This summit is being organised by the Andhra Pradesh Government in association with Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Dalberg Advisors.
 
Speaking at the summit Mr. M. Venkaiah Naidu said Agriculture is the bedrock on which the Indian economy is built, and it should be made sustainable and remunerative so as to double the income of the farmer by 2021. Judicious adoption of the latest technologies, especially IT, better processing facilities and strengthening the rural infrastructure are necessary to achieve the objective of doubling the farmer’s income. AT (agricultural technology) plus IT will make the State and the country mighty. AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu  also spoke about the agricultural scenario in Andhra Pradesh, emphasising that the State was focussing on leveraging technologies to improve the sector and make life easier for farmers.

As part of this summit the Government of Andhra Pradesh, in partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Dalberg Advisors and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), has also invited applications for a Pitch Competition to identify technology-based solutions that solve agricultural challenges faced by small and marginal farmers in Andhra Pradesh. Th winners will get an opportunity to sign an MoU with the Government of Andhra Pradesh to roll out their solution in the state.
 
The Chief Minister said the State was aiming at food security, nutrition security as well as fodder security and was getting ready to join hands with Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for improving farming. “Bill Gates will be here on Friday for the Valedictory session on November 17  and we will discuss ways and means to improve farming in the State,” he said. AP Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy said, "The summit is aimed at bringing cutting edge technologies in the agriculture sector to the aid of small and marginal farmers in the state." More than 50 stalls are set up to showcase latest agriculture technologies and products of companies.
 
More than 1,500 global leaders from 61 countries including business heads, start-up founders, leading policymakers, progressive farmers, non-governmental organisation (NGOs), and agriculture and technology experts are attending  the summit.
