'Snaplications' hiring campaign by McDonald's-Australia

The outrage about Snapchat’s CEO Evan Spiegel that he said, “This app is only for rich people. I don’t want to expand into poor countries like India and Spain”(The allegations are not yet proved ) has not affected the popularity of the app down under. And as a matter a fact the fast food giant McDonald’s has used this social media app for its hiring purpose.

Cashing in on its popularity in Australia ,McDonalds  has started an innovative recruiting 'Snaplications’ campaign,  where the interested person can send their  10 second Snapchat video application to McDees after which s/he would receive a link to the digital job application form and which then would lead to a face to face interview.

This is not mean to replace the traditional hiring process and according to Shaun Rumming, the CEO of McDonald’s Australia said, “We are the largest employer of youth in the country, so we are trying to look for new and innovative ways to recruit crew people.”

They believe that through this they can determine the energy and optimism levels of the candidate and a video profile is the novel way to gauge him or her.
This is the first time that McDonald has tried using this method for hiring purposes. And if it turns out be a successful other companies worldwide may follow and Snapchat could end up with more deals and downloads.

Indian companies would want to explore the option of recruiting youth through such new age communication technologies where sending a one-page profile can be replaced with a video profile!
