Winners of the India Innovation Challenge Design Contest 2016

India Innovation Challenge Design Contest (IICDC) launched by Texas Instruments in association with the Department of Science and Technology and Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) conducted the India Innovation Challenge 2016 at Bengaluru last week.

IICDC aims at giving an opportunity to engineering students to think about tech ideas that would change the socio economic issues that India is facing. The contest provided a platform for start-up ideas by engineering students from across the country to help nurture their talent and give support to their game changing tech ideas.
 
This year the contest garnered participation from 25 states across India, from 624 colleges and 11000 enthusiastic students, of these 428 teams made it through to the Quarter Finals. 55 teams of student innovators moved up to the semifinal stage; 30 of which were finally selected to showcase their ideas in the finals held at Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB).
 
List of the winners:
 
-The Top Prize of the contest – “Chairman’s Award” was won by the team from Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Technology, Coimbatore who presented their product – Watch Dog for Aquaculture Farms.They won a prize of Seven lakh rupees. 
 
-The first runner-up was from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur & 
 
-The second runners-up were from Dream Institute of Technology.
 
-The Aspiring Tech Talent Award by TI India Women’s Initiative Network, to honour the spirit of creativity of women innovation was won by SDM Institute of Technology, Ujire who were awarded Rs. 1 lakh.
 
The exposure at the India Innovation Challenge Design Contest has not only helped to nurture their technical innovation but have also mentored them to create a successful business around it and sustain their start-up. 
The finals of the Texas Instruments India Innovation Challenge 2017 is going to be conducted next year and as of now, the Qualifying rounds are being conducted till November 2017, after which the Quarter and Semi Final rounds will be held.(MyGov.in)
